A national car dealer directory. Our own venture with a partner, built from scratch. It tells buyers which dealership suits them, with no star ratings and no paid rankings. The first version had the right idea and the wrong build.

The 27 MB first version was never put through Google’s test before it was replaced, so there is no before number here. The after is measured live.
What we found
- ✗The homepage weighed 27 MB because the whole dealer database was inside it. On a phone it took the best part of a minute.
- ✗The “featured dealers” on the front page were placeholders, not real businesses.
- ✗Thousands of directory addresses led to a page that did not exist.
- ✗No state pages Google could crawl, so most of the country was invisible to search.
What we did
- ✓More than 5,000 dealership pages, a page for every state and territory, and 66 brand hubs, all generated from one set of data.
- ✓The homepage is under 60 KB. It loads fast on a phone in a car park.
- ✓Search by suburb, postcode or location, filtered by the kind of buyer you are.
- ✓Every page marked up so Google and AI assistants can read it properly, with an llms.txt guide for AI readers.
- ✓A private dashboard for the owners, so they can see what is working and act on it.
